Dating someone younger than you are can be a pretty rewarding feeling. You’d think that everyone should be allowed to feel that way, but no, only men are allowed to do that. Men can date younger women, while women are basically frowned upon for dating younger men.
But, is there a rule allowing men to date younger women? Some believe there is and it’s that a man can date a woman half his age plus seven.
This might be the reason why women are complaining about how they can no longer seem to find men their age who will date them.
Based on the said ‘rule,’ a man can only date someone his age when his 14, because half of 14 is 7, plus 7, so the girl should also be 14.
If this rule is applied, a 10-year old boy who feels like he’s ready to date would have to date a 12-year old girl. A 20-year old boy in college would have to go looking for a 17-year old high school girl to date.
A 25-year old man can then date a 19.5-year old girl. So, you’d have to look at sophomores in college as your dating pool even after you have spent three years working. This could mean frat party hopping and enduring all the good and bad of college parties.
A 30-year old man can date a 22-year old. After spending a good eight years in the world of work or business, you’d have to look for a fresh graduate to date. Do you think it would work with someone who may not have even held a real job of her own and who might still be behaving more like a college student?
At 35, you can date a 24.5-year old. Given the 11-year gap between you and your girl, you’d be the envy of your friends for snatching such a young date.
At 40, your date has to be 27 years old. Well, she might be a woman now, but just look at the difference in the first digit of your ages. Applying the formula, you’d have to be 46 to date a woman older than 30 years old.
It is said that 30 is the sexual peak for women. You will finally be able to experience great sex with a mature woman, but think about how you’d have to wait for 46 full years if you are to follow this urban legend.
At 50, your date has to be 32. But can you justify the 18-year old gap?
Just think 60. At this age, your date has to be 37. At 70, she has to be 42. It would be like dating some of your children’s friends, who may have gone in and out of marriages themselves.
An 80-year man’s perfect date would be a 47-year old woman. Women at this age would still be pretty young and active. The last thing that they might want to do is to spend their time with an old man whose skin and muscles are so loose and saggy already and whose joints would make it extra difficult to get up in the morning without all the ooh’s and aah’s of pain.
Women who dare date younger men are labeled cougars and are often viewed negatively. In contrast, an 80-year old dating a 47-year old man is well congratulated.
Just think how ridiculous this urban legend really is!
